Eventually Hays’ property was chosen for several reasons it’s distance from the city, it’s picturesque tranquil view, as well as it’s high altitude with increased air flow. The search began for a proper location to constructed the much needed facility. Nestled in the Ohio Valley, Louisville doesn’t get a proper amount of fresh air flow. In an attempt to to contain the disease, a “Board of Tuberculosis Hospital” was established in 1906. The Beginnings of industrialism, as well as geographic make-up were contributing factors.

In turn, he renamed his property Waverley Hill.Īt the beginning of the 20th century Louisville Kentucky had the one of highest rate of tuberculosis deaths in the United States. Ms Harris’ had a fondness for author Walter Scott’s Waverley novels, and she received Hays’ permission to name the schoolhouse the Waverley School. Since any existing schools were a good distance away, Hays decided to establish a sone room school house for his children to attend and hired Ms. All tour guides both nights were great and every employee we came across was helpful and kind. The area known today as ‘Waverly Hill’ was purchased by Major Thomas H. I highly recommend the historical tour to anyone wanting to experience this wonderful building and all the significance of its history. Not only could we enjoy seeing this magnificent building but we could take some wonderful pictures. On the flipside, the historical tour the following day was fantastic. We've done many paranormal tours in different locations, such as Eastern State Reformatory, Bobby Mackeys, and Rolling Hills Asylum to name a few and we have never walked in complete pitch black where we couldn't experience our surroundings. We left after that tour slightly disappointed as we spent the whole tour in practical darkness walking around not seeing anything in the building but pitch black hallways and rooms. The paranormal tour had a lot more historical information and a lot less paranormal aspects than I thought it would. We decided to choose a weekend where we could do the paranormal tour one night and the history tour the next day. We had been looking forward to going to this location for quite some time. I don't think I can because it's not right. How can I ask my members to put back money for a investigation, when we just lost all of that money. And when your a group of 6 and each and everyone of us struggle with money. I love the paranormal and I hate to quit or even think about quitting. But I dont want any of my paranormal family out their to have the same thing done to them. I was hesitant to even put this out there because I hate throwing people under the bus. We paid $1,060 pluse tax for a 8 hour private group investigation. So pretty much we wasted our money that my group has saved for investigating Waverley Hills. They told us that they wont give us our money back and that they cant rescedual our investigation. We told them that we didn't want our money back. So we did, we did 4 or 5 times before they decided to email us back. They told us to email the person that's over the bookings. But we had a death in the family and we called Waverley Hills Sanatarium two day's before our scedual investigation, to let them know that we cant make it. The reason why I been thinking about quitting is because we had a investigation at Waverley Hills Sanatarium on August 11th 2021. I been quiet on here for a long time, I been having alot of mixed feelings about if I should keep on ghost hunting or just quitting.
